i just met a guy named tony

tonight, my friend lauren and jasmine had me over to watch the tony awards at their apartment with our other friend logan. lauren and logan were both studying for their music history test tomorrow (gross) but we all still had a wonderful time.

lauren and jasmine have been babysitting our friend anneka's kitty, sadie. she sat on my phone and when i tried to get it, promptly bit me. but we were still cool. she was precious, and spent most of the tony's cuddling with my purse and eating my shoes.

all in all, it was a great time. i got to see the love of my life, norbert leo butz, as he won 'best actor in a musical' for his role in 'catch me if you can'. when they showed a clip of the show, i literally didn't recognize him.

best of all, lauren and i got on the topic of the color purple, and then this happened...

and THAT is dedicated to sarah bear.

also, when coming back home, i noticed some graffiti that has recently been added to this steel building next to my apartment. i don't really get it, but i totally get the couch that it was next to that was torn up. also, notice the light is green? every single picture that i've taken in waco street lights has turned out green. no matter what camera, etc. it's odd. anyway, if anyone gets that graffiti at all, i'm really curious to know what it's all about.

have a lovely night, all!

bad news bears

(photo via this guy)

i swear, very soon i will stop blogging about my phone situation. but that day is not today.

here's a rundown of what's happening right now in my life (as my phone IS my life, let's be honest):

1. drops iphone 4 in a toilet.
2. grieves.
3. gets iphone 3GS from a friend of my deddeh's. (seemingly in perfect condition.)
4. notices that phone sucks. (95% of the time won't text, call, get service, etc.)
5. takes phone to att and is told that the phone is simply broken and nothing can be done.
6. grieves.

honestly, i would LOVE a working iphone, but at this point, i would just really love to be able to get in touch with the world. i really am sorry that most of my blogging recently has been dedicated to my phone woes, but hopefully this will not continue as the universe will bring me a fully functioning phone.

on a better note, my birthday is in 19 days! and my one year with my boy is 3 days after that. there will be much celebrating. :) and many much pictures.

in the mean time, i would like to share a funny photo. i hope it brightens your day.

i've had this for years and it still makes me laugh.

also, look at how cool this blog is!!

have a wonderful night, my friends.

obsession (a tribute)

my dear cousin sarah was a brave soul today. on her blog, she openly discussed one of her obsessions. so, as a tribute to her bravery, i decided to own up to one of mine.

hello. my name is mackenzie, and i drink way to many fountain drinks.

(hi mackenzie)

although it's been a glamorous life up to this point, and i don't see myself getting help any time soon, i figured discussing it was at least a step in the right direction. for example, today was a 'good day' for me. i woke up, promptly got a 44 oz. diet dr. pepper from the local exxon, and went home. a few hours later, it was demolished, so i went to my favorite coffee house, common grounds (which is worth driving to see, by the way), and got a large coffee. i finished that in about 25 minutes, and before i went home, ran by the exxon again and got another 44 oz. diet dr. pepper. (hey -- they're 96 cents, why not?)

really, it's not necessarily a 'fountain drink only' oriented problem, but a 'i-need-a-drink-at-all-times-or-i-feel-like-the-darknesses-will-get-me' problem. it just so happens that 99% of these drinks are 44 oz. fountain drinks from the exxon. sonic is fine, but honestly, their drinks don't taste better because they cost more. i'm in college -- i can't afford luxuries like sonic all the time.

as i stare menacingly at the second fountain drink of the day, i can't help but wonder if my stomach ache is simply from having too much to drink today. rapid-fire style. which is *technically* my fault.

(takes sip)

hopefully this will be my final drink of the day. why not water, you ask? because it's gross, that's why. and boring. and not my style at all.

at this point, i am literally cuddling my fountain drink as i watch one of my other obsessions 'so you think you can dance'. if these obsessions are wrong, i don't think i want to be right.

on a completely different note, watching this show tonight has introduced me to a great new song (as it ALWAYS does). it's called 'in this shirt' by the irrepressibles. it's so beautiful! and that video is great too. it makes me want to watch the movie the song is from. it's called 'the forgotten circus', have you guys ever heard of it? it looks interesting...

anyway, *whew* well i feel better. thanks for listening. do any of you have embarrassing obsessions you're willing to share? i'd love to hear about them. people helping people, you know..

le lazy-man's blog post

hello my friends,

my lack of blog posting recently has been largely due to my business, partially due to my laziness. while i don't have anything brilliantly witty or intriguing to say today, i have decided to do a lazy man's blog post and just list things about my day/life.

10 facts about my now:

1.) i slept in WAY too late today, i was up late (this morning) watching 'the social network'. great movie, it's about time i got around to watching it.

2.) selling books back to the bu bookstore may be one of the most satisfying feelings in the world. aside from the 2 out of 6 that were out of date, and wouldn't sell back.

3.) one of my many vices is subway pizza. it is cheap, and takes about 90 seconds to 'cook' in a giant microwave-oven-type-thing, and i LOVE IT. give me that and a giant fountain drink, and i am set.

4.) i gave in to my desire and just finished demolishing a subway pizza. tg for elastic waists.

5.) i am determined to buy myself a small record player as my birthday present to myself. (22 days!!!) like this.

6.) i had these bangs before zooey deschanel was even born. this is not entirely fact, but i really have had my bangs longer. and she is no singer. (although i do love her in elf.)

7.) in my mind, ina i.e. the barefoot contessa is the highest ratio of weird personality to delicious-looking food i have ever encountered. she loves to exploit her friends as she MAKES THEM eat her food, but man...i would let her exploit me if we were 'friends'. she feeds them all the time!

8.) i am the queen of outfit repeating. i don't think one can be a normal young adult without doing it. if you find something awesome to wear, why not wear it more than once?!

9.) i wish i were more eloquent. i'm not awful, i just tend to keep talking until i figure out what i'm trying to say. when discussing corporal punishment the other day, i was calling it 'carnal punishment' for like ten minutes. there is a difference, turns out.

10.) i am officially out of my 44 oz. fountain drink. the world is not completely over, my favorite gas station does refills...

4 of my silliest fears:

1.) invisible sharks. (true story)

2.) amputation. (gone with the wind ruined me, to this day i can't finish that movie)

3.) a parasite. (i am not in any way scared of bugs, or creepy crawlies or anything, but when i think about something under my skin that is not supposed to be there.......*shudder*)

4.) being blindly terrible at something without someone telling me. how embarrassing.

2 of the best songs ever:

1.) paper bag -- fiona apple

2.) to take you home -- frank turner

that's all for now. be sure to enjoy your wednesday!

from ashes to phoenix, blah blah blah...

so, the status on my phone is still totally postal. i tried the 'rice bowl' trick (which is supposed to suck all of the liquid out of one's phone), but unfortunately the damage had been done. that being said, i am trying to move on with my life as best as i can, by getting a 3GS. no more face time, but i'm glad to be able to stay in the apple family. it's been a tough past couple days, to say the least. i realized how much i use my phone, but i can honestly say, i had no idea how much i NEED it. my entire life is in that phone. without it, i have forgotten how to get anywhere (gps?), ignored my email completely (they still allow that on computers?), and managed to stay out of touch with the entire world. i have spent the last hour at my boyfriend's house trying to work the tv, and getting the internet up. they have a house line here (what is THAT?!) but it's currently out of order due to the dsl causing some sort of interference blah blah blah...point is, i feel like i'm stuck in some sort of post-apocalyptic waste-land, where iphones and mackenzies alike go to die.

how dramatic. but seriously, it is time to move on, but never forget my sweet, sweet phone. in honor of it, i will post the last few pictures that made it onto my lappy before it met it's doom. *cue sarah mclachlan music*

a death in the family.

my dear friends,

there was a death in the family. her name was "my phone" and she met a tragic and watery death when she jumped from the front pocket of my shorts -backwards- into a toilet behind me. she has been showing tiny signs of life, but ultimately, they're just post-death nerve twitches.

gross. anyway, i feel tragically lost without my phone. i am honestly the kind of person that is considered missing or dead when i don't answer the phone or respond immediately, and i tend to panic without being able to get in touch with people. i'm slightly paranoid that the SECOND my phone dies, someone is going to fall off of a cliff or something, and i'm the only one lithe enough to save them...? i don't know. point is, if something can go wrong, it will -- at least when it comes to my phone dying. on top of being known as the most reachable person on the planet, i am also notorious for being a phone killer. i've probably gone through between 10-12 since i started college. i promised myself that once i got the iphone 4, i would be twice are careful, but apparently my pocket didn't make that promise with me.

so, as to deal with my heartache, i have decided to rid myself of my aggression with a few letters to the culprits involved.

dear shorts,

you have served me well, but yesterday you did a bad thing. i do not appreciate when you do things like give me a mom pooch and throw my phone into the toilet. i really needed that phone to not be filled with water, and you knew that, yet you still tossed my phone like a piece of trash. i still love you, and i will continue to wear you daily, but you should know that i am not happy with you right now.

love,
mackenzie

dear toilet,
how DARE you eat my phone!? i don't even KNOW you, and you think it appropriate to fill my phone with your nasty toilet water. while you served your purpose just fine, you crossed the line when you and my shorts conspired against me to make my life difficult. i will forgive you eventually, but only after i have a working cellular device again. for the time being, you suck.

love,
mackenzie

well, i feel better -- even if my phone doesn't.

yours,
m. wilson
